FLSUN S1: The Best Printer Under $5000

FLSUN is a pioneer in the field of 3D printing, offering fast and reliable performance. Its latest product, the FLSUN S1, is a 3D printer with a Delta-style design that can achieve ultra-high-speed printing up to 1200mm/s. The FLSUN S1 has several hardware features that make it stand out from other 3D printers:

Delta Design:

The FLSUN S1 is a Delta-style 3D printer, which differs from traditional printers in its movement mechanism. Instead of having a moving bed and x carriage, it has 3 arms that are attached to 3 rails on the sides. These arms can move independently to position the effectors for precise and fast printing. The FLSUN S1 also has a unique build volume, which is shaped like a cylinder rather than a cube or rectangle. The build plate is circular, with a diameter of 320mm, and the maximum printing height is 430mm. The FLSUN S1 comes with a PEI plate, which helps with adhesion and removal of prints. The printer uses a bimetallic nozzle, which is composed of brass and hardened steel. The nozzle can heat up to 350°C, and it can be swapped for different sizes (0.4, 0.6 or 0.8 mm) depending on the printing needs. The bimetallic nozzle allows for printing with various materials and accuracies.

Closed-loop drive motors:

A closed-loop stepper motor is a type of motor that is commonly used in printers. Unlike regular stepper motors like most printers commonly use, which rely on pulse signals to move without any feedback, closed-loop stepper motors have sensors that monitor their rotation and adjust accordingly. This allows them to correct any errors or deviations that may occur during printing, such as layer shifts or missed steps. The FLSUN S1 printer uses a closed-loop drive system that is attached to the back of the motor. The sensors detect changes in the magnetic field and send signals to the motor to return to the correct position if a step is lost.

Multi-material printing:

As we can see from the recent FLSUN video:

Different types of materials, such as PC, PVA, PETG, etc., can be printed with high quality and speed on the FLSUN S1 printer. Even at ultra-high speeds, the printer maintains a high level of quality and performance. The FLSUN S1 is a great choice for professional and fast printing projects.

Cooling Heat:

A CPAP turbo fan with a remote blower at 40,000rpm is used by the FLSUN S1. The fan provides a high air speed of 10 m/s to quickly remove the heat generated during ultra-high-speed printing. Cooling holes in other locations also help to dissipate small amounts of heat. This cooling system is very efficient and helps the print model to cool quickly and improves the print quality.

Synchronized wheel and belt:

FLSUN S1 has a 30-tooth synchronous wheel steel belt that ensures a balance of torque and speed. This belt is more durable and less prone to stretching and abrasion than the one used by FLSUN V400. It also has a semi-automatic adjustment feature.

These are some of the hardware features that make FLSUN S1 a remarkable 3D printer. In the next article, we will explore the software innovations that FLSUN S1 offers!
