Foundation season 3 gets Apple TV+ release date and trailer

Foundation season 3 is coming soon. Apple TV+ just announced the release date for the next chapter of its sci-fi epic, and debuted the first teaser trailer.

Foundation season 3 debuts on July 11

Apple TV+ might be best known for Severance, but it has another big-budget sci-fi epic with a loyal following.

Foundation, based on Isaac Asimov’s award-winning book series, has two full seasons available on Apple TV+ and the third is coming soon.

Foundation season 3 will arrive on Friday, July 11 with its first episode, followed by weekly releases through September 12.

Here’s the summary and first trailer for season 3:

Set 152 years after the events of season two, The Foundation has become increasingly established far beyond its humble beginnings while the Cleonic Dynasty’s Empire has dwindled. As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the fearsome form of a warlord known as “The Mule,” whose sights are set on ruling the universe by use of physical and military force as well as mind control. It’s anyone’s guess who will win, who will lose, who will live and who will die as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons and Demerzel play a potentially deadly game of intergalactic chess.

If you’ve never seen Foundation before, it’s a sci-fi series with massive scope.

Think: less like Severance, more like Star Wars or Dune.

Based on critics and viewers’ reception, the show saw a big quality leap later into season 1 and throughout the entirety of season 2. Foundation’s first season has a 72% on Rotten Tomatoes, but an impressive 100% for season 2.

Here’s hoping the new season can continue the positive trajectory for the series, and find it an ever wider audience.
