GameSir has long been a standout in the budget controller space, frequently earning spots on our best Xbox controllers list with their impressive and low-priced offerings. However, with so many models launching regularly, it can be tough to keep up with the differences between them. The latest release, the GameSir T7, caught my attention for one specific reason: it has two transparent models (red and blue). As an aging milleniall I am a sucker for transparent gaming accessories. What’s more, at just $34.99, the T7 is not only eye-catching but also affordable. In contrast to Xbox’s own transparent controllers like the Sky Blue Cipher, the T7 includes Hall Effect technology, a feature that GameSir has been incorporating into their controllers while Xbox has yet to do so. But while it looks cool and is priced well, the real question is: how does it perform? And how does it compare to my favorite GameSir controllers, like the SE G7 and GameSir Kaleid? Let’s dive in and find out.
GameSir T7: Pricing and availability
The GameSir T7 wired controller is priced at $34.99 in the US and £39.99 in the UK, making it GameSir’s cheapest controller yet. It’s available both through Amazon and via GameSir’s website.
The box simply contains the controller and a long 3-meter cable, bright red for the Ruby Red controller, and a striking bright orange with the white version. This controller will work across multiple platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X|S, and Windows 10/11.
GameSir T7: What I liked
The GameSir T7 is very basic, no-frills controller which will initially appeal because of its low price. At $34.99 this is not only GameSir’s cheapest Xbox controller but one of the cheapest you can buy for Xbox outside of some unofficial, and unlicensed designs in the darkest depths of Amazon and Temu. For that $34.99 you’re also getting the GameSir Hall-Effect sticks (cushioned within anti-friction rings) which means you needn’t worry about stick-drift in this controller. If you’re looking for a sturdy controller that will last for a younger family member, the T7 is probably the best you can get right now. The sticks will take a beating and the build quality is incredibly sturdy. The color options are lovely too, and while I was initially disappointed that the Ruby Red isn’t quite transparent, it’s more ‘frosted’, I do really love the look of the controller.
The cable that’s included connects easily to the Xbox and while it’s not braided like other GameSir controllers, it’s still sturdy and seems pretty hard wearing, though the truth of that can only be tested over a long period of time. I appreciate that GameSir have also included a 3.5mm audio jack with this as they sometimes randomly remove them from the controllers, and many still use wired headsets. Your headset can be muted directly from the controller too which is handy.
The controller is very comfortable in the hand, with laser-engraved textured grips on the rear and the size being comparable, if not a slight bit smaller than the average Xbox controller. There are 4 rumble motors in the controller that pack quite a punch, and the triggers feel responsive, though those who play a lot of competitive FPS games may want more features. Overall it’s pleasant enough to use.
GameSir T7: What I didn’t like
While the GameSir T7 offers solid value for its $34.99 price tag, it’s important to keep expectations in check given the budget-friendly nature of the controller. The design is relatively basic, and while functional, the face buttons lack the premium feel you might expect from higher-end models. This wouldn’t be as much of an issue if GameSir weren’t already offering higher-quality controllers in their range, such as the GameSir G7 HE and GameSir Kaleid. Both feature superior mechanical buttons, which are a noticeable step up from the T7’s standard membrane buttons. Even the GameSir G7 SE, which also uses membrane buttons, feels a bit more refined for just $10 more, making the T7 seem a bit lacking by comparison.
Another feature I miss on the GameSir T7 is the rear buttons, which have become a staple for me. After using controllers with rear paddles or buttons for a while, I find myself instinctively pressing for them even when they aren’t there, which is a bit frustrating. The absence of these buttons, coupled with the overall simpler design, makes the T7 feel more basic compared to its siblings in the GameSir lineup. For just a little more money, the G7 SE or other models in the range offer added features, which is something to keep in mind if you’re looking for a more premium experience.
GameSir T7: The alternatives
And therein lies the rub: GameSir is essentially competing with itself with the release of the T7. While the T7 is an affordable option at $34.99, it inevitably invites direct comparisons to GameSir’s own lineup, particularly the GameSir G7 SE. Priced at just $10 more at $44.99, the G7 SE offers a noticeable upgrade with its rear buttons, improved build quality, and more premium-feeling D-pad and ABXY buttons. Plus, the G7 SE now comes in an array of vibrant colors—blue, orange, and purple—adding a bit of flair that the original white model lacked. For just a little more, you get a controller that feels a step above in terms of quality.
However, if cost is your primary concern, there are also budget options like the PowerA wired controllers, priced at $29.99. While they come in cheaper than the T7, they don’t feature the advanced Hall Effect technology that the T7 boasts. That means you’d need to weigh whether the additional precision and durability of the T7’s hall effect sticks are worth the extra cost, especially if you’re looking for a controller that will withstand heavy use or long gaming sessions. Ultimately, it comes down to what you’re willing to sacrifice for that extra $5-$10—whether it’s durability, extra features, or the appeal of a more premium build.
GameSir T7: Should you buy it?
You should buy this if:

I’m genuinely impressed that GameSir has managed to include Hall Effect technology at this price point, making it a great option for anyone seeking a reliable controller without breaking the bank. I’d definitely recommend it to friends or family looking for a solid, no-frills controller, especially for younger gamers who might not be ready for a more expensive model.
However, for adult gamers, I’d suggest spending a bit more—either on the GameSir G7 SE or the GameSir G7 HE. For just a little extra, you get a noticeably better build, more premium-feeling buttons, and crucially, back buttons, which I’ve found to be indispensable. While the T7 does the job, those willing to invest a bit more will appreciate the enhanced quality and added features with GameSir’s other models.
