garmin: Garmin’s next smartwatch could compete with the Apple watch

Garmin might not be as popular in the wearables section as Apple, Samsung and Fitbit, but this smartwatch vendor turned out to be very successful as it achieved an overall fifth rank in global shipments during Q2 2021.
This brand is well known for serving professional athletes and outdoor addicts with flagship “multisport” wearables that are available at exorbitant prices that can exceed Rs 40,000. On the contrary, the Venu series includes a number of less expensive smartwatches that were developed to compete with more “mainstream” Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch series.
PhoneArena reports that Garmin is preparing to launch a Venu 2 Plus model in the coming days just eight months after announcing the Venu 2 and 2S that claimed to be champions of battery life. The report also adds that the upcoming wearable looks intelligent as its front panel and rear cover has also been leaked.
As the name suggests, Garmin Venu 2 Plus is expected to come out as an upgrade to the Venu 2 and might not bring in a total redesign or significant changes, as the name suggests. However, the Venu 2 Plus is expected to have a third side-mounted button and is also expected to equip a microphone for smoother voice calling at your wrist (when connected to a smartphone).
This means that the Venu 2 Plus is also expected to feature an in-built speaker and as the report suggests that it might also have a voice assistant that might be there which can help you with multiple tasks. We all know that Garmin’s present smartwatches run on a software platform that was developed by the company and doesn’t use the Wear OS. It means that you might not find Google Assistant support in the Venu 2 Plus.
The reports also added that the upcoming Garmin Venu series watch included other features like — 50 meters deep water resistance, GPS and multi-GNSS technology for accurate tracking, stainless steel build and a 43mm case diameter. The new shape is also expected to fit between the 41mm Venu 2S and the 45mm Venu 2 case sizes.
It is still unclear when Garmin will release its Venu 2 Plus model and what price tag it will carry, but it can be assumed that it will be available at a starting price of around $400 (roughly around 30,000), which can compete directly against the Apple Watch Series 7.
