We previously bought and reviewed a refurbished iPhone 11 Pro from Apple’s refurbished store, and we’ve done the same with a certified refurbished Apple Watch Series 6.
We found that Apple’s refurbishment process produced a previously used or bought iPhone that was as good as new. Apple says it replaces the battery and outer shell, which means that everything you touch on the iPhone is brand new, and you also get a fresh battery.
It’s a little different with the Apple Watch. The company says in its FAQ that it doesn’t sell refurbished Apple Watches that need replacement parts. That means the company doesn’t replace anything on a previously bought or used Apple Watch. Still, the company also says that its certified refurbished products undergo “full functionality testing” and “put through a thorough cleaning process and inspection.”
In essence, a refurbished Apple Watch should look and function like new. Regardless, we still carefully inspected the refurbished Apple Watch we bought, and made sure to check its battery health to make sure it’s as good as new.
And, like the refurbished iPhone we reviewed, we bought the refurbished Apple Watch ourselves rather than going through the regular press channels to ensure we go through the same processes that any customer would.
