Google’s Pixel 9 Series Is Coming Earlier This Year
Last year, the “Made by Google” event took place in October, with Google unveiling the Pixel 8 lineup and the Pixel Watch 2. This time, it’s happening earlier. The company has teased a video reading “Google Pixel,” followed by Roman numerals “IX” and “VIII-XIII-MMXXIV,” suggesting that the Pixel 9 series will be unveiled on August 13, 2024.
The Pixel 9 Lineup Might Comprise Four Smartphones
We’ve seen plenty of reports suggesting that the upcoming Pixel 9 lineup will be the most extensive yet, with four devices. Apart from the regular Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, the Pixel 9 Pro XL will also be introduced. However, the phone won’t be bigger than the current Pro phones. Google would instead make the Pixel 9 Pro smaller, and the 9 Pro XL would retain the Pixel 8 Pro’s screen size.
Furthermore, the company is said to be rebranding the upcoming Pixel Fold 2 to Pixel 9 Pro Fold, making it the fourth phone in the Pixel 9 family. This move will better streamline Google’s smartphone lineup. The synchronized launch will also allow the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and its successors to utilize the latest Google technology, as the OG Pixel Fold landed at an odd time and had to use the previous year’s hardware.
The Pixel Watch 3 Is Also On The Way
Google will also reportedly lift the covers off the Pixel Watch 3 alongside the Pixel 9 lineup. Design-wise, there’s not much to expect as it will carry forward the same old design we’ve been seeing from the first Pixel Watch. We still have hopes for the hardware and the software, though.
Also, Google might launch a bigger 45mm variant of the watch this time. This would be great for people with bigger wrists or anyone preferring bigger smartwatches in general, as all the Pixel Watches till now have had the 41mm variant only.
What Else Do We Expect?
Apart from the fancy new hardware launches, Google will also showcase its software progress. Android 15’s unveiling will be the most interesting, bringing new features to smartphones. The OS will come on Pixel 9 lineup out of the box and will be made available to other devices as well.
Besides, you can expect new AI advancements from the company. AI is likely to be the buzzword during this year’s launch too, be it during the unveiling of the Pixel 9 series, the Pixel Watch 3, or Android 15.
Overall, the Made by Google event this year will be jam-packed with announcements. If you’re looking forward to streaming it live, you can tune in to Made by Google’s YouTube channel on August 13, 2024, at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET.
