Gemini Is Going To Get A Feature To Let You Choose Your Preferred Music Streaming Service
If you tell Google Gemini to “play my playlist on Spotify that’s called Chill”, it won’t be able to do that, but if you tell Google Assistant, it’ll aim to impress and do exactly as you say. That’s because Google Gemini doesn’t have support for third-party music streaming services (and even YouTube Music at the moment), but it looks like that’s going to change soon.
According to a report from PiunikaWeb and AssembleDebug, we now know that things are going to change for Google Gemini, and a setting to choose a preferred music streaming service is going to be introduced soon. This means you’ll be able to ask Gemini to play your music or playlists with your voice alone. This is going to be one way Google Gemini gets closer to covering everything that Google Assistant can do at the moment.
Thanks to the folks bringing us this exclusive report, we also get to see some screenshots of what the setting will look like in the Gemini interface. Since the feature is yet to be active, it’s not much of a surprise that tapping on the option brings you to a mostly blank interface.
Just from the way Google is moving these days, we can tell that AI is a huge part of the future that they envision, and as a result, Google Gemini is almost bound to completely replace Google Assistant in the next few years. For those who might have been holding onto Assistant for this one particular feature, you’ll now have the chance to switch over to Gemini without worries.
Google Gemini Also Has Several Tricks Up Its Sleeve That Assistant Doesn’t
With generative AI behind the wheel for Google Gemini, there’s a lot that it gets that Assistant can’t match up to. For instance, one of the major perks of Google Gemini is its ability to summarize things, so if there’s a really long webpage that you don’t want to read in its entirety, you can ask Gemini to summarize it for you. Or maybe you’re trying to understand the law of thermodynamics; it can summarize that for you too.
You can also show it something in your camera or a picture on your screen, and it can tell you more about what you’re looking at. Honestly, Gemini has the potential to be a virtual assistant the way Google likely originally conceived it, but we may have to wait sometime before it can truly do everything.
