The global pandemic put paid to Google I/O in 2020 but this year we have an online-only event to look forward to which kicks off in just a few hours from the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA. We are expecting a whole lot of announcements covering topics such as new hardware, a revamped Wear OS, details about the features we can expect with Android 12, as well as the opening up of the Android 12 public beta program.
When does it start?
Google I/O 2021 kicks off later today with Sundar Pichai leading the keynote and runs through Friday, May 18th with barely a break. You can check out the full schedule here, but suffice to say that there are developer sessions galore over the next 3 days along with replays in case you missed the original streaming.

You can catch the live stream of Google I/O here, with Keynotes and Sessions being made available on YouTube after the event is over in case you missed anything. While you don’t need to register in order to view the Keynote if you want to reserve a spot in the various Developer Sessions it’s advised that you register so you don’t miss out. What can I expect to see?
Well, besides details on Android 12 features and design, as well as the announcement of the public beta program, we expect to see the unveiling of the Pixel 5a, the Pixel Buds A, perhaps a new smart home product of some sort, a new version of Wear OS and also perhaps a new smartwatch, more integration with Fitbit, the addition of yet more features to the Google Assistant, and finally, maybe some news on Stadia. There’s a lot to look forward and it’s going to be a fairly manic couple of days, so keep it locked to TalkAndroid.
