Google is showing off Pixel 6 and 6 Pro units in its New York store window but you can’t touch them

Google is putting some effort into teasing Pixel fans with the presence of actual Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro handsets being shown off in the window of its physical store in New York. Google’s new phones are cased in a protective box so that no one can touch or perhaps procure one of the unreleased smartphones.

The Pixel 6 is shown off in pinkish color that will probably be called something link ‘Almost Coral’ while the 6 Pro is in a gold/peach colorway that I’m not even going to try to put a label on it. Beneath each phone display is a QR code that when scanned takes you to the Pixel 6 landing page on the Google Store. The tease doesn’t reveal anything we don’t already know and basically serves its purpose which is to ramp up the hype for Google’s new phones, so it’s served its purpose I guess.

Infuriatingly, the tease still only gives the general promise that the Tensor-powered Pixel 6 series is ‘Coming Fall 2021’, which is presumed to be early October but Google hasn’t confirmed any date so far.

Are you waiting for the Pixel 6 preorders to go live before you upgrade? Let us know in the comments below.
