Google’s Switch to Android app aims to make moving from iOS easier than ever before

Apple’s “Move to iOS” app has been around for years but Google hasn’t responded with an app for iOS users to switch to Android, relying instead on the likes of Samsung whose Smart Switch is integrated into its One UI software. Until now, that is. Google has quietly taken the wraps off its Switch to Android app on Apple’s App Store which will make switching from iOS to Android easier than ever before.

Despite the importance of the new app, there has been little effort on Google’s part to publicize the Switch to Android app and there isn’t even a mention of it on the corresponding website. You’ll need a direct link to the Switch to Android app on the App Store in order to download it to your iOS device.

Once you have managed to install the app, you’ll be able to export your contacts, photos, calendars, and videos to an Android device, with video and photos being imported directly into Google Photos. The app will also show you how to turn off iMessage so you don’t miss any text messages from friends and family.

Will Google’s Switch to Android app be something that you can see yourself using? Let us know in the comments below.

He’s been an Android fan ever since owning an HTC Hero, with the Dell Streak being his first phablet. He currently carries a Realme GT Neo 2 in his pockets, a Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 in his backpack, and thinks nothing of lugging a 17-inch laptop around the world. When not immersed in the world of Android and gadgets, he’s an avid sports fan, and like all South Africans, he loves a good Braai (BBQ).
