E3 2021 is chugging along at max speed, with game reveals and announcements being released in a flurry of news. Grounded, the innovative survival game from Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios, wasn’t about to be left out of the festivities, as the small and dedicated team at Obsidian has taken the stage at Xbox E3 2021 to share details on the next major content patch, The “Shroom and Gloom Update,” heading to Grounded on June 30.
This content update plans to be the biggest release yet for Grounded’s early access, with headlining features like pets, castles, and a new Broodmother spider. The game is also getting support for Xbox achievements.
It should be noted that we knew Obsidian was planning something big for Grounded after a recent developer update announced the team was moving away from monthly content updates to deliver more extensive and ambitious features. The expected May Content Update never arrived, instead supplanted by a significant release coming later this month. They even teased some of the smaller features coming in the update, including new building pieces, the ability to mirror building pieces, improvements to Photo Mode, and more.
If Grounded were to release right now officially, it would likely already be one of the best Xbox survival games. That’s clearly not enough for Obsidian, which plans to fully flesh out Grounded with plenty of new features and updates. When Grounded does eventually reach its fabled 1.0 release, it might be one of the best Xbox games in general.
