Those who signed up to Twitter Blue or X Blue as it’s now known as will be aware of a certain backlash on the social media network towards them and the blue checkmark that comes as part of the subscription. As some users flee to other apps such as Threads and Mastodon, others have taken pot shots at those with the blue checkmark. So much so that X has taken notice and added an option for X Blue subscribers to hide the blue checkmark from their profile. If you are subscribed to X Blue and would like to hide the blue checkmark on your account, join us after the break for the steps on how to do so on the app and on a browser.
How to hide the X Blue checkmark on the mobile app
Open up the X app on your smartphone and tap on Settings and Support
Tap on Settings and Privacy
Click on Blue and then select Verification
You’ll now see the Blue Tick option which opens up the Hide Your Blue Tick toggle. Go ahead an tap the toggle to hide the blue tick from your profile. And that’s it.
If you are using a web browser to access X/Twitter, follow the steps below:
Tap on the icon with 3 horizontal dots to open up the menu
Click on Blue and select Preferences
Next, you’ll need to choose Early Access to New Features
Click on Profile Customization
Toggle the Hide your Blue Checkmark option to remove the icon from your profile.
Now your blue tick should be hidden from public viewing although the company says that the checkmark may still appear in some (unspecified) places and some features may still reveal that you have an active subscription.
