The Halo Infinite campaign is the most open Halo setting yet, seeing Master Chief fighting his way across Zeta Halo. Along the way, there’s going to be quite a few foes trying to stop him. If you want to familiarize yourself with the growing database of threats, we’ve got you covered, with a full list of enemies in the Halo Infinite campaign.

Right now, this list is mainly composed of the various generic forces that make up the Banished, as well as a few named characters we know will be opposing Master Chief. As time goes on, this list will grow, whether through enemies not yet revealed or from post-launch content, as Halo Infinite is meant to be the start of a great journey which could see new campaigns added over time. Depending on how things play out, it could even be one of the best Xbox games available.

    Grunts

    Species name: Unggoy

Grunts are the iconic, often-hilarious pint-sized backbones of the various Covenant factions, with the Banished being no exception. They come in squads, usually running for cover whenever their commanding Brute or Elite is killed. Grunts are individually rarely a threat, carrying less-powerful weapons like the Plasma Pistol, though the Needler-wielding variant can be more dangerous and the rare Grunt wielding a heavy weapon should be treated with care. Grunts are more dangerous when they go suicidal, igniting twin Plasma Grenades and rushing towards you in an attempt at a glorious death.

    Jackals

    Species name: Kig-Yar

Jackals are easily spotted by their arm-mounted energy shields. These shields block almost any bullets, significantly reducing the damage the otherwise physically frail Jackals take. Jackals normally wield a Plasma Pistol in tandem with their shields.

    Jackal Snipers

A particularly nasty variant of the Jackals that still haunts many a Halo 2 player’s dreams. Jackal Snipers lack the protective energy shield, instead opting for a powerful ranged weapon. Alone, they can be annoying to deal with. In groups, they’re extremely dangerous.

    Elites

    Species name: Sangheili

Elites aren’t as big a presence in the Banished as they were in the former Covenant, but there are still some filling out the ranks. These shielded warriors use a wide range of weapons, with the Elite’s armor color indicating just how dangerous that particular soldier is. Blue is the for the standard infantry, red are more dangerous, black indicates special forces, and silver- or gold-armored Elites are powerful commanders. Elites often wield Energy Swords, making them lethal when in close proximity.

    Hunters

    Species name: Mgaelekgolo

Hunters are walking tanks. These colonies of worms are strapped into heavy armor and outfitted with a plasma cannon. Almost always appearing in “bonded” pairs, Hunters are difficult to defeat without heavy weapons, as their armor ignores practically any regular guns, meaning you have to aim for the soft orange weakpoints. In addition to their deadly cannon, Hunters are physically strong, capable of sending Master Chief flying with a single hit.

    Brutes

    Species name: Jiralhanae

The Brutes lead the Banished faction, making them much more of a focus than before, except perhaps in the final waning days of the Covenant. Brutes use a wide variety of weapons, as they aren’t afraid to pick up human equipment like the Rocket Launcher. Brutes also make deft use of jetpacks, using them to reposition and flank Master Chief. New to Halo Infinite are the named Brute Chieftains with a lifebar, a kind of mini-boss that hasn’t been seen in the mainline Halo games before.

    Skimmers

Skimmers are a completely new enemy in Halo Infinite. They appear to be small, flying foes that wield the Brute Shock Rifle.

    Escharum

A Brute War Chief and member of the Hand of Atriox, Escharum is the second-in-command of the Banished, leading the group on Zeta Halo while Atriox remains trapped on The Ark. Escharum is a cunning commander, defeating the UNSC forces who previously occupied the ring world. He also appears weary and eager for a real fight with Master Chief.

    Jega ‘Rdomnai

Previously revealed through concept art, Jega ‘Rdomnai is an Elite Blademaster and another member of the Hand of Atriox. He appears to be hunting down Master Chief across the ring, serving as an assassin rather than a battlefield commander.

    The Harbinger

The Harbinger is an unknown being that is allied with the Banished. According to Escharum, both the Harbinger and the Banished “share the same goal.” The Harbinger also has a feminine appearance and voice.
