Halo Infinite will launch with crossplay support between Xbox and PC

Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty has officially announced in a blog post that Halo Infinite will fully support multiplayer crossplay when it launches, meaning that Xbox and PC players will be able to play with each other. This is exciting news, especially since Halo Infinite’s multiplayer will be free-to-play and thus will be the most accessible Halo multiplayer experience yet. Between the multiplayer’s accessibility and crossplay, Halo fans will be able to play with their friends easier than ever before. Cross-progression will be in place as well, which will allow players to keep their unlocks when switching between playing on Xbox and PC.

Additionally, it was also confirmed that Halo Infinite will support other PC-specific features. These include support for ultrawide and super ultrawide displays, triple keybinds, and plenty of graphics options to tweak the balance between visuals and performance. There are more PC features as well according to Booty, and we expect that 343 Industries is going to announce them in its upcoming April Inside Infinite development update.

These moves to make sure Halo Infinite is a “premier” experience on PC are part of Microsoft’s wider focus on improving PC gaming, which also includes giving developers of Microsoft Store PC games a larger 88% cut of profits, ensuring that the Xbox Cloud Gaming experience is up-to-snuff, bringing DirectStorage technology to PC for boosts to loading speeds, and more.

What do you think of Halo Infinite getting support for crossplay and Microsoft committing to PC gaming more overall? Let me know. Halo Infinite is expected to launch in Fall 2021 (potentially in late November according to a voice actor’s account) on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One consoles, and Windows 10 PCs. The full game’s price is $60, according to an active Best Buy preorder.

We highly recommend checking out the Master Chief Collection while you wait for Halo Infinite, as it bundles all of the pre-Xbox One Halo shooters together for an excellent price. This makes it one of the best Xbox One shooters available, and a game that you definitely shouldn’t miss if you’re looking to play some Halo while waiting for Infinite.
