Halo: MCC Season 8 (dubbed Mythic), the final season that Halo developer 343 Industries is releasing for the game, is now live on Xbox and PC. The new season features several new armor sets for Halo 3 (the helmets are also usable in Halo: Reach) inspired by ancient warriors from history and mythology, and there are also several new skins for weapons and vehicles as well. Additionally, a new urban-style map for Halo 3 called Icebox is also available to play on, and Halo 3: ODST’s Firefight mode has been expanded with customization options that give it parity with Halo: Reach Firefight.

The developers were originally planning to add Elites and the Flood to Halo 3: ODST Firefight, but these additions aren’t quite ready yet and will be introduced into the MCC at a later date. Notably, though, you can now choose to fight waves of Forerunner Sentinels.

While Halo: MCC Season 8 is the last season that the developers are making, it has been confirmed that Halo: MCC will continue to get updates in the future that add in new pieces of content, introduce new features, and fix bugs, glitches, and other issues encountered by players. These updates will come on a “ready when it’s ready” basis.

Ultimately, everything in Halo: MCC Season 8 sounds awesome; I’m particularly excited to try out the new and improved Halo 3: ODST Firefight. Also, even though seasonal updates are over, it’s still a good idea to sign up for the Halo Insider Program. You may be able to help the developers test new MCC content in the future, but you’ll also have a chance to play the Halo Infinite beta as well. Halo Infinite could end up being one of the best Xbox shooters, so we recommend signing up for a chance to play it before it launches on Dec. 8, 2021.
