HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) – The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is warning people about an ongoing Bitcoin scam. The agency says if someone tells you to withdraw money from your bank and send bitcoin, do not do it.
In addition, they say government agencies, businesses, or tech support will not ask for cryptocurrency payments. Deputies say scammers create urgency, fear, or threats to pressure you for a quick decision.
If you are approached, and it doesn’t feel right, stop and talk to someone you trust before acting. The sheriff’s office also encourages people to report the message or call a verified source if they aren’t sure about the call.
Scammers often target those less familiar with technology. A quick chat could help prevent a devastating loss.
