Here we go again with Google reportedly gearing up to announce the Pixel Watch during 2022

    Pixel Watch

We’ve been here so many times that you could be forgiven for thinking we are writing about Saygus, but here we go again and this time, maybe it will actually happen. Maybe. We are of course talking about the much-fabled Pixel Watch from Google that is only a few years’ delayed from launching with a variety of hardware. This time, the thought of Google actually bringing the Pixel Watch to market during 2022 doesn’t fill us with much excitement, for a variety of reasons.

According to a report from the paywalled Insider outlet, the Pixel Watch could be announced during Spring 2022 if testing goes as planned. Google has apparently been ‘dogfooding’ the Pixel Watch internally to gauge feedback on the wearable that is said to have health tracking functions and a proprietary (seriously Google?) band. The same source says that there isn’t a physical bezel on the Pixel Watch, for better or worse.

One snippet that doesn’t inspire confidence in the report is that the Pixel Watch will need to be charged on a daily basis, implying that in their efforts to produce a slim wearable Google has trimmed the battery capacity to silly levels. If true, there’s no point in the Pixel Watch featuring sleep tracking capabilities because it will need to be charging. And let’s face it, Google isn’t known for giving its devices a charging rate that could be regarded as fast from any perspective other than perhaps 2014, so the Pixel Watch will likely take around 4 hours to fully charge.

Who knows, maybe this time will be the one where we see an official Pixel Watch launched by Google. Maybe.
