Over in China, OnePlus already revealed its flagship for this generation, the OnePlus 13. However, the OnePlus 13R hasn’t been shown off in any form, though we know its equivalent will be landing in China sometime soon, before an eventual January release for the rest of the world.
For many people, the OnePlus 13R is the OnePlus device to go for, because it doesn’t compromise too much on the spec sheet while selling at a lower price. The best part is that the entire spec sheet of the OnePlus 13R has just leaked, so let’s see what the device has to offer.
No More Mystery: The OnePlus 13R’s Specs Have Just Been Revealed
The OnePlus 13 launched in China in late October, so there’s very little mystery regarding what global audiences will get when the time comes. However, that’s not the case with the OnePlus 13R, and a lot of us have been postulating what that device might offer when it finally makes its way to the market.
Impatience is a common trait among us smartphone lovers though, so we’re thankful that we’ve just been served a major specs leak on the OnePlus 13R, from the stables of 91Mobiles. We now know everything that the device has to offer, so let’s break it down.
The Design And Display Don’t Change By Much
The design will likely change to better resemble the design language of the OnePlus 13 while getting a little bit shorter and a little bit thinner (8.02mm) than its predecessor. It’ll be available in a Nebula Noir and Astral Trail colorway.
On paper, the screen will be the same model as the 12R: a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate. It could bring improvements in brightness, but that’s not specified.
The Internal Hardware Gets A Noticeable Boost
Inside, the device will have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 running the show, which in late 2024, is a generation behind, but considering the OnePlus 12R only had the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, I’d say that things are on track. The base model is expected to be 12/256GB, with not much word on what the higher storage configurations might be. If that truly is the base model, that’s better than the 8/128GB for the 12R.
The battery gets itself a 500mAh boost, hitting the 6,000mAh mark square on the nose. That matches what the full-fat OnePlus 13 offers. The charging gets stepped down to 80W, but that’s still plenty fast.
The device will also come with Bluetooth 5.4, an IR blaster, and Wi-Fi 7, which is at least an upgrade in the Bluetooth department.
The Cameras Get One New Addition
The OnePlus 12R had a triple-camera setup, with a primary shooter, an ultrawide, and a macro camera. This year, the triple-camera configuration sticks around, with a 50MP wide and an 8MP ultrawide, but the macro camera is thrown out and replaced with what will likely be a 50MP 3x telephoto camera. Not bad. The selfie shooter remains the same 16MP unit.
