Virginia Tech announced its 2023 spring football roster on Friday afternoon and defensive back Nyquee Hawkins was omitted from the latest roster release.
Hawkins, a redshirt junior during the 2022 season, played in nine games for the Hokies last fall, recording 25 total tackles on the season.
Hawkins was honored with the No. 25 uniform for the season-opener against Old Dominion last fall.
In 2021, Hawkins played in four games for the Hokies, making two tackles on the season. He played in three games during the 2020 season.
A former three-star recruit out of New Jersey, Hawkins was considered the No. 394 overall prospect in the nation at the time of his signing with the Hokies. He was the No. 33 safety prospect in the 2019 class.
