Homeworld 3 is coming, to be shown off at The Game Awards 2021

Homeworld 3 is on the way, developer Blackbird Interactive confirms. As one of the many big games being seen before the end of 2021, there’s not a lot known right now, but it’s going to be officially shown off at The Game Awards 2021. You can check out the teasing announcement post below.

Homeworld 3 is being funded via a Fig campaign, having reached over $1.5 million in funding. The game is being published by the Gearbox Publishing division. The Homeworld games are a series of real-time strategy (RTS) titles set in space, as players build a fleet to protect their mothership and engage enemy forces in battle.

Homeworld 3 is currently slated to launch at some point in the fourth quarter of 2022, though there’s no exact release date right now. It’s also worth noting that ongoing effects of the pandemic mean game development and release date timing are less certain now than ever before, so it won’t come as a surprise if it ends up needing more time being polished before launch.

If you want to watch The Game Awards 2021 and catch the announcement live when it happens, you’ll need to tune in early via your platform of choice at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT. The announcement is happening at some point during the 30-minute “pre-show,” as opposed to the remainder of the show, which is being hosted by Geoff Keighley.
