At MWC 2024 late last month, Honor showed off their latest flagship devices: the Honor Magic 6 Pro. In my opinion, it is certainly one of the more attractive phones that we’ll see this year, but on top of that, it’s got amazing specs. It seemed to use like the top of the line option for Honor, but alas, that is not the case.
Honor has just officially teased a new phone in the Honor Magic 6 series, called the Honor Magic 6 Ultimate, and by the sound of things, it’ll be the highest-end model in the series. I’m very excited to see what Honor has in store with this phone, but being a teaser, we only know a little so let’s talk.
The Honor Magic 6 Ultimate Is Supposedly Going To Be A Work Of Art
If you think that headline is me being superlative, Honor was the one that described the teased Magic 6 Ultimate as an “ultimate artistic masterpiece”. We don’t know anything about the specifications of the device, so it might just end up being a fashion-conscious rebranding of the Magic 6 Pro (especially because I find it hard to see how the specs can get even better).
We do have a glimpse at aspects of the phone’s design: the back panel in particular, thanks to the teaser released by Honor on Weibo. The back panel looks to have a vegan leather finish, which you can never go wrong with especially when done well.
The star of the teaser is that massive camera module though. It takes up a huge part of the upper half of the phone and is shaped something like a rounded rectangle (though two of the diagonally opposite corners are more rounded than the others) — I’m not sure if that kind of shape has a specific name. Either way, the module has a gold trim around its edges and then one vertically ascending and one vertically descending “cut” in the faux leather originating from a top corner and a bottom corner respectively.
It’s certainly a stylish look, and we can’t wait to see the rest of the device. We’ll need to wait until March 18th to see the rest of the smartphone. However, this smells like something that will remain a China-exclusive, so don’t hold your breath that you’ll get it in the US.
The Magic 6 Pro Is A High-Specced Beast Of A Phone, And Pretty Too
The Magic 6 Pro totes a 6.8-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED screen that can refresh 120 times in a second and hit a peak brightness of 5000 nits. The screen is also curved on all around, if you’re into that. You get a massive 5,600 mAh battery and 80W wired charging, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 512GB of storage, and 12GB of RAM. The cameras are amazing on paper too, with the main lens having a variable aperture and the telephoto sensor being 180MP!
If the Honor Magic 6 Ultimate comes with the same specs (or even better specs) than the Honor Magic 6 Pro that was unveiled at MWC, I’d say it’s an instant pass spec-wise. The Honor Magic 6 Pro is a high-end phone in all ways, carrying AI bragging rights too.
