So you’ve got your new Galaxy S24 in your hands and want to reboot the phone, but when you press the power button, Bixby pops up instead. Is your new smartphone broken? No, not at all. This is just something that Samsung insists on having on as default because it wants to force you to use its Bixby assistant. Don’t worry, though, because changing it to activate the power menu you know and love is just a few short seconds away, thanks to our step-by-step guide below.
The Power Button
Back with the Galaxy S8, Samsung used to have a side button dedicated to Bixby. Recently, the smartphone maker has ditched the dedicated button to usurp the power button’s role by defaulting to activating Bixby instead of the power menu. We feel strongly about it here at TalkAndroid, so here we are with this step-by-step guide on enabling the power button menu. This guide could easily be called “How To Get Rid Of Bixby From Your Galaxy S24 Power Button,” but we like to be polite.

Step-By-Step Guide
We have a quick and handy solution if you’re tired of Bixby popping up whenever you want to shut down your Galaxy S24. It’s super easy to do and will take just a few quick seconds of your time.
First, open up the Settings app on your Galaxy S24. Either swipe up to access the App Drawer to do so or swipe down from the right-hand side of your display to access the Quick Settings panel and then tap on the gear icon to access Settings.
Next, you’ll want to scroll down until you see Advanced Features. Tap on it.
Then, you’ll need to tap on Side Key.
Ignore the Double Press Customization option and select the Power Off Menu under Press and Hold.
And that’s it. Your Galaxy S24’s side button has been restored to performing the function it was born to do – to give you the power off menu that lets you reboot, make an emergency call, shut down, or show your medical information. It really was that simple.
One day, Samsung will realize that we don’t want Bixby spoiling our attempts to reach the power button. One day. But until then, we’ll carry on showing you how to circumvent the practice and get the smartphone experience you deserve.
