Want to see your photos on Apple’s billboards and advertisements? Apple is inviting customers to submit their best macro photos for the 2022 Shot on iPhone challenge. Submissions are open until February 16th, and winners are announced on April 12th.
This year’s challenge is exclusive to iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max owners, as only these new iPhones support macro shooting through the ultra-wide lens. Macro mode, of course, lets you shoot magnified photos of incredibly small subjects, such as the gills of a mushroom or the rings of a tree stump.
Apple says that winning photos will be shared on its website and Instagram account. The photos could also appear on billboards, in Apple events, and in other forms of advertising. As in previous years, a panel of Apple employees and photographers will judge each entry and pick ten winners for the contest.
Here’s how to join the 2022 Shot on iPhone challenge:
- Via Email: Change your photo’s name to a “firstname_lastname_iphonemodel” format. Then, attach it to an email titled “Shot on iPhone Macro Challenge Submission” to shotoniphone@apple.com.
- Via Twitter: Follow @Apple on Twitter and tweet your submission with the #ShotoniPhone and #iPhonemacrochallenge hashtags. Be sure to caption your photo with your iPhone’s model and set your Twitter profile to public.
- Via Instagram: Follow @Apple on Instagram and post your photo with the #ShotoniPhone and #iPhonemacrochallenge hashtags. Make sure to caption your photo with your iPhone’s mode and set your profile to public.
- Via Weibo: Share your photo with the #ShotoniPhone# and #iPhonemacrochallenge# hashtags or the Chinese localized #ShotoniPhone# and #iPhone微距摄影挑战# hashtags. Don’t forget to caption the photo with your iPhone’s model name.
Bear in mind that contestants must be 18 or older to enter this challenge. Apple employees and their immediate family aren’t allowed to join.
