If you find it inconvenient to share your Android phone’s hotspot details manually, you can create a QR code that others can scan from their devices to connect to your hotspot. It’s easier than you might think.
I have performed the following steps on a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL running Android 15. The steps will slightly vary depending on your phone model.
Step 1. Configure and Turn On Your Android Hotspot
Before being able to generate a QR code, set up and enable your Android phone’s wireless hotspot. You’ll configure the wireless network name and the password.
To do that, on your phone, navigate to Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & Tethering and tap “Wi-Fi Hotspot.” On the following page, tap “Hotspot Name” and type the name you want for your Wi-Fi network. Tap “Hotspot Password” and type the password you’d like to use. Then, turn on the “Use Wi-Fi Hotspot” toggle.
Optionally, on the same page, you can configure other hotspot options. For example, if you want your phone to disable the hotspot when no devices are connected to it, turn on the “Turn Off Hotspot Automatically” option. You can also choose the security type and other options.

Step 2. View Your Android Hotspot’s QR Code
Now that you’ve set up and enabled your Wi-Fi hotspot, let’s access its QR code. On your phone, head into Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & Tethering > Wi-Fi Hotspot. Next to Hotspot Name, tap the QR code icon.
You’ll have to authenticate yourself using your preferred method. Then, you’ll see your hotspot’s QR code. Below the code, you’ll see the password for the hotspot. Keep this screen open to scan the QR code from another device.
Step 3. Scan Your Android Hotspot’s QR Code From Another Device
On your other device that you want to connect to your Android phone’s hotspot, launch the built-in Camera app. Point the camera at your phone’s QR code. Then, tap “Connect” or “Join” to connect this device to your hotspot.

If the built-in Camera app can’t scan the QR code, use the free Google Lens app or get a QR code scanner app from Google Play Store.
How to Access the Hotspot QR Code Later
You can always access your Android hotspot’s QR code by heading to Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & Tethering > Wi-Fi Hotspot and tapping the QR code icon next to Hotspot Name. You can take a screenshot of the QR code to share it with others then easily.
Note that your QR code will change if you change the hotspot name or the hotspot password. In this case, if you’ve taken the QR code’s screenshot, that screenshot won’t work. You’ll have to take the screenshot again.
What to Do if QR Code Sharing Doesn’t Work?
If you can’t share your personal hotspot using a QR code, the following alternate options will help you out.
Use Quick Share
Another option to share your hotspot’s details is by using Android’s Quick Share feature. To do that, head into Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & Tethering > Wi-Fi Hotspot and tap the QR code icon next to Hotspot Name. At the bottom of the code, tap “Quick Share.” On the following screen, choose the device you want to share the hotspot with.
Manually Make a QR Code for Your Wi-Fi Hotspot
If your phone’s built-in hotspot QR code is not scanable, you can manually create a QR code for your hotspot. You can do this by using free sites like QR Code Generator and QRCode Monkey.
To use QRCode Monkey, for example, head to its site. At the top, tap the “WiFi” tab. In the “Wireless SSID” field, type your hotspot’s name. In the “Password” field, type your hotspot’s password. Select the “Encryption” drop-down menu and choose the encryption type for your hotspot. Then, scroll a bit down and tap “Create QR Code.”
Then, choose “Download PNG” to save the QR code as a PNG image to your device.
If Nothing Works, Manually Share Your Hotspot’s Details
If you still have trouble connecting your other device to your Android hotspot, manually share your hotspot logins with that device. On your Android phone, head into Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & Tethering > Wi-Fi Hotspot and note your hotspot name and the password.
