There are plenty of tools you can use to track the prices of products online, but what if your browser could do it by itself? Thanks to a feature in Google Chrome for Android, you can do exactly that.
Introduced in Google Chrome 90 for Android, the price-tracking feature aims to do most of the work for you. You have the option to simply leave a product page tab open and let Chrome monitor it, or manually add products to track like you can on Chrome for desktop.
Note: Google rolls out Chrome features differently for everyone. You may have both of the following price tracking features available, but it’s more likely you will have only one or the other.
First, open the Google Chrome app on your Android device. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner and select “Settings.”
Next, go to the “Google Services” section.
Make sure “Track Prices on Tabs” is toggled on.
You can also manage price tracking notifications from this page as well.
That’s all you have to do for the tab-tracking feature. When a price drop is detected, you’ll see a badge on the tab that shows the current and previous price.
To manually track a product, navigate to its page and tap the bell icon in the top bar.
A menu will appear with the option to choose a location to save the bookmark and enable or disable alerts for price drops.
That’s all there is to it. Simply visit the bookmark location to remove the product when you’re done with it. This is not as comprehensive of a price tracking feature as you can get from a third-party, but it works with the browser you’re already using, which is nice.
