If you’d like to allow a blocked user to call and message you again on Facebook Messenger, you’ll have to unblock them first. We’ll show you how to do just that on your desktop and mobile.

Keep in mind that unblocking someone on Facebook and unblocking them on Facebook Messenger are two different things. If you’ve blocked someone entirely in your Facebook account, you’ll have to first unblock them on Facebook to let them connect with you on Messenger.

This guide covers how you unblock someone who you have blocked only in Facebook Messenger.

To remove someone from your block list in the Messenger app or the Messenger web version on your Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, follow these steps.

On your computer, open a web browser and head over to the Facebook site. Log in to the site with your account if you haven’t already done so.

In the top-right corner of the Facebook site, click the down-arrow icon.

From the down-arrow icon menu, select “Settings & Privacy.”

In the “Settings & Privacy” menu, click “Settings.”

Click "Settings" in the "Settings & Privacy" menu on Facebook.

Facebook will take you to a “General Account Settings” page. Here, in the sidebar to the left, click “Blocking.”

Click "Blocking" on the "General Account Settings" page on Facebook.

You’ll see a “Manage Blocking” page. On this page, scroll down to the “Block Messages” section. Find the user you want to unblock and click “Unblock” next to their name.

Click "Unblock" next to a user name on the "Manage Blocking" page on Facebook.

And immediately, Facebook will unblock the selected user in your Messenger. They can now call and message you on Messenger.

If you change your mind and you’d like to block them entirely on Facebook, it’s easy to do so.
