The feature is known as ‘Live Listen‘, and this feature allows you to eavesdrop of someone. There are better usages for Live Listen feature but i’m sure this sounds fun. If you think your significant other is up to some mischeif or your colleagues are plotting against you, AirPods and an iPhone could help you, and it’s not the music therapy that we are talking about.

Well, for Live Listen feature to work, you need an iPhone and Apple’s AirPods. AirPods, AirPods Pro and new AirPods Max along with Powerbeats Pro and Beats Fit Pro come with this feature.

With AirPods connected to your iPhone, When you switch on ‘Live Listen’ the audio is picked up from the microphones on iPhone and routed to your AirPods. Which means AirPods are transmitting audio that the iPhone microphones are picking up, Now as AirPods are connected over bluetooth you can easily leave your iPhone in one room and move to the adjacent room and continue listening to what your iPhone’s microphones are capturing.

How to enable Live Listen on iPhone/AirPods?

With your iPhone/iPad connected to your AirPods, go to settings on your iPhone, scroll down to ‘Control Center’ and add ‘Hearing’ tp the included controls.

Now the ‘Hearing’ icon will show up in your control center when you swipe down on your iPhone or iPad. Clicking on the ‘Hearing’ icon which is an ‘ear’ will open up settings where you can switch on ‘Live Listen’ and enjoy high quality audio from your iPhone’s microphone beamed to your AirPods.
