First, make sure that your detergent has enzymes, which are the key ingredients in modern detergents. As of mid 2023, all of the widely available powders, tabs, and pods we’ve seen contain enzymes, as do most gels. As long as you see protease, amylase, subtilisin, or just generic “enzymes” listed in the ingredients, you’re in business.
