I Switched to Apple One Premier Years Ago and I’d Never Go Back

Apple offers six core subscription services: iCloud+, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, and Apple Fitness+. Subscribing to all six services individually could set you back almost $70.

However, you can also access multiple services together in Apple One bundles. I’ve been subscribed to the highest tier, Apple One Premier, for several years, and it’s the one subscription I have no intention of giving up any time soon.

What Is Apple One Premier?

Apple offers individual subscriptions to its services, such as iCloud+, Apple Music, and Apple TV+. It also offers three Apple One bundles that include several of the services for a discounted price.

Apple One Individual includes subscriptions to iCloud+, Apple TV+, Apple Music, and Apple Arcade, with 50GB of iCloud storage for $19.95 per month. Apple One Family increases the storage to 200GB and costs $25.95 per month.

Apple One Premier is the highest tier. As well as iCloud+, Apple TV+, Apple Music, and Apple Arcade, it also includes subscriptions to Apple Fitness+ and Apple News+. You also get 2TB of iCloud storage, and both the subscriptions and the storage space can be shared with up to five other people. Apple One Premier currently costs $37.95 per month.

iCloud+ Storage Is the Reason I Subscribed

I’ve been subscribed to Apple One Premier since 2021, and the reason I first subscribed was that I needed more iCloud storage space for myself and my family members. 200GB wasn’t going to cut it, especially as the storage was going to be shared between five people. My options were to pay for 2TB of iCloud as a standalone subscription for $9.99 per month or go for Apple One Premier, which cost $29.95 per month at the time.

I was already paying for an Apple Music Family subscription at $14.99 per month, so the individual subscriptions would have cost $24.98 in total. For an extra five bucks, I could get four additional subscriptions, which to my mind was more than worth it. Four years later, I’m still happy with my decision.

I’ve Paid for iCloud Storage for Years, Here’s Why I Don’t Regret It

Forget Netflix and Game Pass, this is my most valuable subscription.

Apple Music Is Apple One’s Best Service

I was paying for Apple Music before I switched to Apple One Premier, and to my mind, it’s Apple’s best service. You get access to millions of songs, but the same is true of Spotify or Amazon Music. The reason that I chose Apple Music as my streaming service of choice was because it worked so seamlessly with my Apple devices, and that’s still the case today.

The catalog is great and is very rarely lacking the music I want to listen to. It also has

excellent recommendations and bespoke playlists
that have helped me discover a lot of new music. The Apple One Premier subscription allows up to six people to have their own Apple Music accounts, effectively working out at just $6.33 per month per person. This would be a good deal just for Apple Music, let alone all the other included subscriptions.

Apple TV+ Has Some Incredible Shows

There are so many

video streaming services
these days that it’s hard to keep up. When someone recommends a show, you have to try to remember which streamer it’s on and whether that’s one you’re subscribed to. If I didn’t have an Apple One Premier subscription, I don’t think I’d be paying for Apple TV+ because there’s a limit to how many streaming services I can afford, and the selection of shows on Apple TV+ isn’t as wide as on other platforms.

That said, I’m so glad that Apple TV+ is included in my Apple One bundle because Apple has many of the best shows around. Originals such as Severance, Slow Horses, For All Mankind, and Silo are some of the best TV shows I’ve watched in recent years. There are plenty of excellent movies, too, and having Apple TV+ included as part of my bundle is a real bonus that I would be very sad to have to give up.

I Rarely Used Apple Arcade Until I Discovered Balatro

Apple Arcade is the service that I’ve used least since I’ve had an Apple One Premier subscription. I’ve never been a huge fan of mobile gaming, and I could never find anything that I really wanted to play when looking through what was on offer.

All that changed, however, when Balatro was added to Apple Arcade. The deck-building card game is incredibly addictive, and I’ve sunk hours into it so far. The game costs $9.99 to buy via the App Store, and I would have been unlikely to pay that much for a mobile game, but Balatro is free on Apple Arcade and now I’m completely hooked. It made me start playing other Apple Arcade games that I would never have considered before, such as Return to Monkey Island and Slay the Spire.

Apple News+ Gives You Access to Multiple Subscriptions

A lot of the best news sources have moved to a subscription model, and it makes a lot of sense. If you rely on ad revenue to keep your business going, then your success is ultimately in the hands of search engines such as Google. When the algorithms are changed, you can find that your traffic is decimated and your revenue streams dry up.

Subscription models are a win-win because subscribers get access to quality journalism, and the companies have a more secure revenue stream, so there’s less chance of them suddenly going out of business. However, subscriptions to your favorite news sources can soon mount up.

Apple News+ gives you access to content from a wide selection of high-quality subscription sites, including The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Athletic, and The Daily Beast. In addition, you get access to a huge variety of magazines, including TIME, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, and National Geographic.

Apple News+ isn’t something I would have subscribed to had it not been included in the bundle, but I now find it very useful to be able to read paywalled content without additional subscription fees.

Apple Fitness+ Has a Ton of Excellent Workouts

The final subscription in Apple One Premier is Apple Fitness+. This is a service that provides hundreds of workouts in 12 different workout categories: meditation, strength, HIIT, yoga, core, Pilates, dance, kickboxing, cycling, treadmill, rowing, and mindful cooldown.

The workouts are in the form of videos hosted by different instructors, and you can build your own custom workout plans based on the types of workouts that you want to do and how long you want to spend on them.

You can watch the workouts on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, and even do audio workouts from your Apple Watch. I’ve used Apple Fitness+ far more than I expected; the workouts are usually very good and do a great job of motivating you, even if the instructors can be a little over-the-top at times.

It’s another subscription that I wouldn’t have paid for outside a bundle, but it saves me a small fortune on workout classes.

Is Apple One Premier Worth $37.95 a Month?

$37.95 is a lot to shell out month after month, so

is Apple One Premium worth it?
For me, it’s a no-brainer. There are two key reasons why this is the case.

Firstly, I would be paying for 2TB of iCloud storage and an Apple Music Family subscription, whether the Apple One bundles existed or not. These subscriptions would set me back $26.98 per month, and for an additional $10.97 per month, I get Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, and Apple Fitness+, which are all good services in their own right. According to Apple, the Premier subscription saves you $29 per month compared to subscribing to the services individually.

The biggest reason why my subscription is worthwhile, however, is that it’s shared with five other people. It means that each of us pays just $6.33 per month to get access to every single Apple subscription, as well as our share of the 2TB of iCloud storage. At that price, I’m never going back.
