Infinix’s color-changing Concept Phone 2021 sports an insane 160W Ultra Flash Charge

It may not be a brand that we are all that familiar with in the US but Infinix is hoping to build on its success in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia with its brand new Concept Phone 2021 that features a color-changing rear panel as well as insanely quick 160W Ultra Flash Charge.

That 160W Ultra Flash Charge technology means that the phone’s 4,000mAh battery will charge from 0-100% in a ludicrous 10 minute period, or 12 minutes if you have the color-changing rear panel enabled. This makes even the speedy 65W charging of the OnePlus 9 Pro appear a tad pedestrian (which it really isn’t). 50W Wireless charging is also present in case you don’t feel like attaching the power cable to the phone and you have longer than 10-12 minutes to spare.

    Specifications:

    • 6.67” FHD+ AMOLED with 88-degree ‘Super’ Curved Screen
    • Dual Color-Changing Back
    • Triple Rear Cameras: 64MP Primary/ 8MP Ultrawide/ 8MP Periscope Telephoto Lens
    • 32MP Selfie
    • MediaTek Helio G95
    • 8GB RAM
    • 128GB Storage
    • 4,000mAh
    • 160W Wired Charging (100% in 10mins)
    • 50W Wireless Charging

Besides mega-fast charging, the Infinix concept phone also boasts a dual color-changing rear panel that combines electrochromic and electroluminescent technology. When there’s a phone call, the back of the phone will change between silver gray and light blue. When charging, it will change color and flash in the middle of the rear panel as shown in the video above.

“…Infinix is committed to offering consumers innovation at an attainable price,” shares Jessy Zhang, Senior R&D Manager of Infinix Mobility. “Creating valuable technology is the driving force behind the Concept Phone 2021. With Infinix being one of the most popular smart device providers among young people in emerging markets, our smartphones redefine productivity and efficiency and are a gateway to the future of digital life.” Infinix will continue to develop and refine the technology showcased in the Concept Phone, so it can be implemented in future Infinix devices.”

While the 160W charging is stupendously quick, it should be noted that it would probably impact on the longevity of the battery after a number of charging cycles, thus cause a faster rate of degradation than charging at 33W would. Still, this is a concept phone that Infinix has already said isn’t coming to market, so it’s pretty much a technology testbed for the brand to play around and see what sticks.

We’ve had our hands on the Infinix Concept Phone 2021 for a few days and can tell you that battery anxiety is simply never a worry that we have thanks to the 160W Ultra Flash Charge technology. We’ve got some other thoughts on the phone being written up over the next couple of days so keep it peeled.
