Intel Unison for Android/iOS connection to Windows shuts down

Intel Unison was a strong tool for Android and iOS users that wanted to share files, check messages, and more. Now, it seems like Intel is shutting that app down, leaving some users without a strong option for PC connection.

Intel Unison isn’t the first app that connects phones to your PC. Windows 11 Phone Link accomplishes the same thing, and it approaches Android connection in the same way Unison does. However, it’s limited to Android and iOS users who can’t utilize the function due to how Windows approached compatibility in the first place.

That option that spans the operating system is now apparently shutting its doors. According to a report from Neowin, Intel Unison will no longer function after June 2025, with the wind-down process already in motion. This surely comes as a surprise for users who rely on the software to connect their mobile devices.

The Microsoft Store, Google Play Store, and App Store all offer a similar message, notifying users that the program will no longer function after June.

Intel Unison will soon be discontinued. The first step in its wind-down process is ending service for most platforms at the end of June 2025. Lenovo Aura platforms will retain service through 2025.

Windows Latest notes that a pop-up is also showing in the app itself.

Windows 11 users who use an Android device can still use Windows Phone Link to accomplish a similar connection, though some features are missing in comparison to Intel Unison. The Phone Link app is free and works with most Windows 11 specifications. It still feels a little limited, but it gets the job done if you’re looking for an easy way to make sure you stay on top of mobile notifications from your desktop or laptop.

Intel does not seem to be offering an alternative program for current users nor does it offer an explanation for the shutdown.
