Apple has released iOS 18.3 public beta 1 today. The new beta offers a preview of the iPhone’s next software update to members of Apple’s beta software program. Here’s what to expect from today’s release.
iOS 18.3 beta is light on new features…for now
iOS 18.3 first arrived in beta form Monday as a developer-exclusive launch. Today’s public beta carries the same build number as that release, so we know exactly what to expect from public beta 1.
And what to expect is…not much.
iOS 18.3 is very light on noticeable new features or changes. The one noteworthy discovery so far involves Apple setting the stage for robot vacuum support in the Home app.
But aside from possibly some small UI tweaks here and there, and bug fixes, that’s pretty much it for beta 1.
In some ways, the update’s scarcity of changes isn’t entirely surprising.
Apple’s engineers will be taking an extended break for the holidays starting soon, so if iOS 18.3 beta 1 caused any significant issues for users, the timing wouldn’t be great.
Hopefully we’ll see more exciting changes in beta 2 when it debuts.
Apple’s lineup of new beta software
Last week Apple launched major new software updates across its full platform lineup. These included big features like ChatGPT integration, Genmoji, powerful Mac Virtual Display upgrades, and more.
Now, Apple’s follow-up releases in public beta include the following:
- iOS 18.3
- iPadOS 18.3
- macOS Sequoia 15.3
- watchOS 11.3
- tvOS 18.3
Like iOS 18.3, the other updates don’t offer many changes so far. The biggest highlight is Genmoji arriving on the Mac as part of macOS 15.3.
