iOS 19: The biggest revamp since iOS 7
The report outlines that the changes will “go well beyond a new design language and aesthetic tweaks.” For the iPhone, it will allegedly be “the biggest revamp since iOS 7” in 2013. As a refresher, iOS 7 marked a dramatic top-down redesign of the iPhone’s software interface, setting the stage for the next era of Apple’s design language.
For the Mac, Bloomberg says macOS 16 will mark the “most significant upgrade to the Mac” since macOS Big Sur was released in 2020.
As part of the revamp, Apple will update the “style of icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons.” The new design will reportedly be “loosely” based on visionOS. The goal is to make Apple’s software platforms “more consistent,” the report says. Apple also plans to “simplify the way users navigate and control their devices.”
