iPad 10.9 (2022) review: The entry-level iPad is all grown up

iPad 10.9 (2022) two-minute review

Apple’s newest base-model iPad, the iPad 10.9 (2022) marks a turning point in the evolution of Apple’s tablet line. Sure, Apple is still selling the last-generation iPad  with its Lightning port and Touch ID Home button, but its days are surely numbered. This is the future of Apple’s entry-level slate, and marks its full maturation as a device that’s both a content-consumption device and productivity partner.

There’s much to love about the new iPad (and all its cool colors). It now features the aesthetic first introduced with the 2018 iPad Pro. Gone are the curved edges and wide white bezels, replaced with a perfectly flat back and flat edge running around the perimeter of the device. It’s the most significant design change for the line since the introduction of the iPad Air in 2013.
