iQOO 13 Leak Reveals Powerful Chip and December Release

The iQOO 13 hasn’t been released yet, but rumors and leaks are giving tech experts plenty to discuss. While the company hasn’t confirmed that there is an iQOO 13 on the way, a recent leak has shown the smartphone appearing on the IMEI certification website. Several other events hint at the phone’s release within the remaining months of 2024. Here’s all we know so far.

iQOO 13 to run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 & support 100W charging

One major reason behind our anticipation for the upcoming iQOO 13 is the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, which is coming out this October. Major Asian players like Xiaomi, Samsung, and OnePlus are already preparing their latest flagships to launch with the chip. The iQOO 13 is undoubtedly among them, although Xiaomi’s 15 series will be the first to launch the chip.

The iQOO 13 is also confirmed to have water and dust resistance (IP68) and USB 3.0 for faster data transfers. The screen is supposedly better than the iQOO 12 and 12 Pro phones, although it mostly shares specs with the iQOO 12. It still has a 6.7-inch size with AMOLED technology and a 144Hz refresh rate. What’s different is the higher-quality BOE panel. BOE is a Chinese display manufacturer known for producing top-notch panels, including OLED and AMOLED screens.

The phone has a big silicone battery capacity falling between 6100 and 6150mAh. iQOO will replace the 120W fast charging speed on its predecessor with 100W. It’s not necessarily a bad sacrifice, considering that 100W is still pretty fast. On the bright side, you’ll also get 50W wireless charging support and other features like bypass charging.

Bypass charging means that when you’re using your phone while plugged in, the charger powers the phone directly instead of charging the battery. Instead of charging the battery and making it hotter, the charger runs the phone, so the battery stays cool and lasts longer. The iQOO 13 will also arrive with An upgraded ultrasonic fingerprint sensor to make unlocking more secure.

iQOO 13 5G to launch in December with higher pricing

Popular leaker PassionateGeekz spotted the Indian variant of the iQOO 13 5G on the IMEI Database with the model number I2401. He also shares that the phone is expected to debut between December 1st and 10th. At this rate, an announcement is inevitable, and you should expect it at any moment.

In addition to the previously rumored specs, the phone should provide 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. However, this size might be limited to the global version. The version to launch in China will support up to 1TB of storage space.

Unsurprisingly, the phone might be more expensive than the iQOO 12 at launch. According to the leaker, the starting price is around Rs ₹55,000 (roughly $655) for the base model. The iQOO 12 was introduced at ₹52,999 (roughly $631) but currently costs ₹59,999 (roughly $714)
