As June crawls to an end, we are ever closer to the as-yet-unknown launch date for Samsung’s next batch of Wear OS 3 – powered smartwatches. And according to a leaked report, the Galaxy Watch 5 series will be more expensive than the Galaxy Watch 4 range that launched in 2021.
The new Galaxy Watch 5 range is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 in an Unpacked event during August, although Samsung has yet to confirm this. The new smartwatches will be called the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, with the Classic moniker making way.
According to the usually reliable Roland Quandt on Twitter, Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch 5 smartwatches will be priced as follows (in Europe anyway):
Galaxy Watch 5
- 40mm (Bluetooth): €300 (~$316)
- 40mm (LTE): €350 (~$370)
- 44mm (Bluetooth): €350 (~$370)
- 44mm (LTE): €400 (~$421)
Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
- 45mm (Bluetooth): €490 (~$516)
- 45mm (LTE): €540 (~$569)
Those aren’t insignificant sums to pay for a Wear OS-powered smartwatch, although it’s likely that the Galaxy Watch 5 range will be discounted to more affordable levels, as it’s predecessor was a few months after its launch.
The report also says that the 40mm and 44mm watches will be available in Gray and Silver with the smaller device also carrying a Pink Gold option while the large wearable can be had in Blue. The Watch 5 Pro will go on sale in Black and Titanium.
