It Seems The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra May Ultimately Replace The Word Ultra With “Slim”
We’ve reported on the existence of a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, which seemed to be set for a major design change that gets rid of the soft corners and opts for a more angular design worthy of the Ultra tag in Samsung’s household. Nothing has disputed the existence of this phone yet and now, we have further confirmation that it exists, except it may also go by the name Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim.
The reason for this might not be a desire to hop on the train behind Apple’s plans to release an iPhone 17 Slim (especially since the Z Fold 6 Slim should launch first). Instead, it seems to be because the company plans to remove the digitizer layer from the foldable screen of the Z Fold 6, which would result in a significantly slimmer phone. However, that means the Ultra/Slim model is bound to lose its S Pen support. This should make Samsung more competitive design-wise at least.
According to Ross Young on X, it is expected to come with a price similar to what the Z Fold 6 costs, though with a bigger screen too. It is also still rumored that Samsung has FE models planned for its foldables this year, which should mean Samsung’s foldable portfolio for 2024 will grow a lot bigger than it has ever been.

According to Galaxy Club, Samsung is working on yet another Slim devices and that one is going to be the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Slim. However, it is quite interesting because there isn’t a digitizer to remove from the Z Flip 6 in the first place, so the Z Flip 6 will need to be made slimmer through pure engineering magic.
Don’t Expect To See It In A Few Months; It Seems Slated To Launch Alongside The S25 Series
If you’re excited to see what Samsung brings with this Slim or Ultra model, you should settle down a bit, because it doesn’t seem set to show up in July like the rest of the Samsung Z Fold 6 family. Nope, instead, it looks like it is going to be coming in Q1 2025.
This is based on a report from Ross Young that says the display panel will only start shipping in the last quarter of this year, which means it is far from a potential release with the rest of the foldables. With the projected Q1 2025 release, it only makes sense that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra/Slim will likely launch alongside the Galaxy S25 series.
