What if you had a headset created just for your long Microsoft Team and Zoom calls? Well, that is exactly what Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex hopes to offer, solving all the pain points of those who are stuck on long calls all day.
Because the Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex is solving a specific problem and it has a very unique design. This is an on-ear headphone that can be folded into a small pouch when you are on the move. Inside the compact design is a microphone that folds out from one of the headsets when you need to be heard. The headset can also be kept on a small pad to charge, which is a very convenient way to keep it near your desk at all times.

While these are unique design elements that make the Evolve2 65 Flex stand out, for me the really soft ear cups were a testament to the thought that has gone into the creation of this device. The ear cups are the best I have experienced in a long time. They are soft and almost feel like they are breathing, so much so that after a long call you don’t feel your ears swearing or crying to be let out of their confinement.
On the left ear cup, there is a power and pairing button as well as a button that lets you toggle between the hybrid noise cancellation and awareness mode. The audio controls are all on the right, along with the microphone boom arm that can be pulled down. Another interesting aspect is the red LED lights on the side of the ear cups that show you are busy and on a call and not exactly chilling out with your office playlist.

While the device connects easily via Bluetooth and can be controlled with the Sound+ app, there is also a USB-A dongle for those who need this to connect to a desktop computer at the office. There is also a Teams button on the right earcup that can open the Teams window if you are on a PC.
Like the design, the audio profile of the Evolve2 65 Flex is also a bit unique. It is very neutral and offers a natural feel as the sound is not too much in your ear. Listening to Cousin Dupree, I got the sense I was listening to Steely Dan in some New York speakeasy. The sound stage is also around you… very mellow. I can understand that this is perfect for when you have to take long calls.
While the audio quality is good and what you would expect from Jabra, one shouldn’t consider this headset primarily for listening to music — I don’t think anyone would, but just making it clear. Because there will be some who think this headphone needs to do more to get to that level where it justified its price purely for its music. Still, on the app you can ensure you get the right tuning with the presets and equaliser. Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car gave me a good premise to test the presets. Because this is a song that is mild on the ears and even here the present made a difference, with me finally settling for the treble boost option as always.

But music is a secondary feature for the Evolve2 65 Flex. Its primary use is for you to hear and be heard well in business calls. And it is in this aspect that this headset absolutely shines. Now, I’d like to explain how this headset works. Unlike regular Bluetooth headsets, the mic does not catch anything if you have not pulled the arm down. Even while on a call, if you push the mic up your voice goes completely mute. And when the mic is on, your voice is heard so well that those on the other side could even hear my breath, with the noise cancelling removing the ambient noise in my room. And unlike other Jabra headsets, this does not have the tunnel sound effect I am not a big fan of.

Anyway, I don’t think this is such a big issue as I was resting the headset on its charger most of the time. So the headset was always juiced up. But then the headset has been designed to fold and go into its wonderful pouch so that you can take it anywhere your work takes you.
Priced at almost Rs 45,000, this is the kind of headsets companies will be buying for their top workers. But yes, for some of us, the new hybrid work model and the calls we are in every day are so important that this is a worthy investment with a very high ROI. Buy this if your calls matter to you.
