The show will follow a young girl and her teammates who work to protect endangered animals.
Apple has greenlit a kids’ series about saving endangered animals that has the backing of the Jane Goodall Institute.
The renowned primatologist’s organization is among the producers of Jane, along with Sinking Ship Entertainment, the company behind Apple TV+’s Daytime Emmy winning series Ghostwriter.
Jane, which will feature a mix of live action and computer animation, will follow Jane Garcia, a 10-year-old with an active imagination. Via pretend play, Jane and her friends work to save endangered animals in each episode.
“Television programs that enrich and inspire, as well as entertain, can give children hope and motivate them and their families,” said Goodall. “That’s why I’m thrilled that Apple TV+ and Sinking Ship Entertainment will work with the Jane Goodall Institute to develop a new children’s program that will do just that.”
Ghostwriter executive producer J.J. Johnson created the series and will exec produce. He’s also a partner in Sinking Ship Entertainment, which also produces Odd Squad for PBS and Dino Dana for Amazon.
Jane will join a lineup of kids and family series at Apple TV+ that in addition to Ghostwriter includes Helpsters, The Snoopy Show, Doug Unplugs and Stillwater, as well as a forthcoming Fraggle Rock revival and Harriet the Spy, based on the classic novel.
