JBL is one of the best known names in the audio space, for good reason. If you’ve been looking for premium over-the-ear headphones, they have some solid options, and now the JBL Tour One M3 is here to raise the bar even higher.
JBL has unveiled its latest over-ear headphones, the Tour One M3. The headlining feature JBL is touting here is the new JBL SMART Tx wireless audio transmitter. The SMART Tx allows users to connect the headphones to any USB-C or analog audio source, including in-flight entertainment systems, PCs, tablets, and televisions. This proprietary connection promises improved latency, stability, and call quality. The transmitter also allows users to share their audio with an unlimited number of Auracast-enabled devices.
The Tour ONE M3 headphones boast 40mm Mica Dome drivers, delivering deep bass, balanced mids, and clear highs. They also support Hi-Res Bluetooth streaming and lossless audio through a USB-C connection. We also have spatial audio with integrated head tracking, and users can personalize their audio profile with JBL Personi-Fi 3.0, which includes a 12-band EQ and separate left/right balance optimization via a hearing test in the JBL Headphones app.
JBL’s True Adaptive Noise Cancelling 2.0 uses an eight-microphone system to adjust to external sounds in real-time, allowing you to block out most distractions—we’ll have to see how well this new system fares compared to JBL’s previous ANC system, but in a nutshell, the previous version of True Adaptive Noise Cancelling featured a four-microphone array, while we now have eight. An important difference, but we’ll have to see how much it actually matters. Ambient Aware and TalkThru modes allow users to customize how much of their surroundings they hear. The headphones also feature four microphones with adaptive beamforming technology for clear voice calls, even in noisy environments. The M3 is Zoom-certified via a wired connection.
Other features include Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, SmartTalk for automatic pausing and ambient noise enabling via voice recognition, and JBL Headphones App integration for personalized settings, EQ, ANC, and ambient sound control. As far as battery life goes, the headphones offer up to 70 hours of playback, with a 5-minute charge providing an additional 5 hours.
The JBL Tour One M3 will be available in Black, Mocha, and Blue colorways and will go on sale on April 13, 2025, for $399.95. It should be available from JBL’s online store and third-party retailers.
