JLab has announced the Epic Lux Lab Edition of its Wireless Headphones at CES 2025. The major highlight is the four microphones (two on each earcup) to help you be heard clearly during calls, even in noisy places. However, that comes with more than double the price tag of the original.
The new Epic Lux Lab Edition headphones are a big upgrade from the earlier JBuds Lux ANC model in several ways. The Epic Lux features special 32mm high-fidelity drivers and has Lab Spatial Audio with head-tracking, while the regular JBuds Lux uses regular drivers and doesn’t have this head-tracking audio feature. The Epic Lux also includes adaptive noise cancellation with AI that can reduce noise by up to 42dB, which is better than the JBuds Lux’s standard adaptive noise cancellation, even though the JBuds Lux offers adjustable settings through its app.
The Epic Lux Lab Edition headphones are designed for comfort, featuring soft earcups and a padded headband. They can be easily folded for convenient storage and travel. You can connect them to two devices simultaneously with Bluetooth Multipoint Technology, and they have a LabShare Mode that lets you share audio with another Lux headphone user. The JBuds Lux struggled with call quality, as mentioned in our review, but the Epic Lux should perform better when making calls thanks to its four microphones that focus on your voice and can cancel background noise.
The new Epic Lux Lab Edition keeps 70+ hours of battery life, although that battery life drops when noise cancellation is on. The Epic Lux adds wireless charging and a charging pad, while the JBuds Lux can only be charged using a USB-C cable. The charging pad can give users 4 hours of use with a quick 5-minute charge.
The Epic Lux Lab Edition costs $199.99, which is much higher than the $79.99 price of the original, but will be available for pre-order starting January 6. They are expected to ship on January 30. You can buy them online on JLab’s website or at select stores. The headphones have a 2-year warranty and include features like Bluetooth multipoint, Google Fast Pair, and Find My Device functionality.
