Google’s latest Pixel Feature Drop brings a number of additional features, updates, and even a new app to its line-up of Pixel handsets. Already rolling out to eligible Pixel phones, the Feature Drop brings new alerts to At A Glance, the Vaccine Card shortcut, new Pride Month wallpapers, as well as the new Pocket Operator music video making app, and more. We’ve got the details for you after the break.
Pocket Operator App
Pixel teamed up with teenage engineering so you can shoot video with your camera, then turn it into music with Pocket Operator for Pixel. You can layer multiple sounds, add effects, create patterns and beats, and mix them all together to make full tracks.
Covid Vaccine Shortcut
Take a screenshot of your digital vaccine card and add a shortcut to easily access your COVID-19 vaccination card right from your Home screen.
At a Glance
At a Glance gains the ability to show feeds and notifications from your Nest Doorbell, as well as reminders to turn off the flashlight on your phone, and soon there will also be Air Quality alerts, although that feature is only applicable for users in the US, Australia, and India.
Crash Detection
Car crash detection is now available in Canada. When turned on in the Personal Safety app, your phone can help detect if you’ve been in a severe car accident. If a crash is detected, your phone will check in with you to see if you’re OK. If there’s no response, Pixel can share your location and other relevant details with emergency responders.
Live Translate
You can communicate in different languages with Live Translate on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Google can now translate your text messages into Traditional Chinese, Korean, Dutch, Turkish, and Thai.
Pride Month Wallpapers
Keep your Pixel screens culturally relevant with the latest Curated Culture wallpapers. This new installment, illustrated by Yann Bastard, celebrates Pride. Yann, a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, has a soft spot for big, bold shapes and bright colors. He was born in Zaragoza, Spain, and is now based in Rennes, France.
Additional features include the Real Tone Filters announced during Google I/O 2022, Live Chat translations now also available in Chinese, Dutch, Korean, Thai, and Turkish on the Pixel 6/6 Pro, as well as Conversation Mode in Sound Amplifier being made available to Pixel 3 handsets and above.
