Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P.K. Pole, has stated that the difficulties faced by fruit-laden trucks faced on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway comes at a time that Kashmir is witnessing a bumper apple crop, crossing 2.1 mln metric tons this year.
He said the apple crop usually remained at 1.7 to 1.8 mln tons, but this year was an exceptionally good one, adding that till October 12, around 80, 000 fruit-laden trucks passed through the national highway while some of them were diverted via Mughal road.
“There is smooth passage of trucks along the national highway now and at least 1,500 fruit-laden trucks are received per day,” he said.
