A leaker is out with a new set of iPhone 17 dummy models based on CAD drawings, and these latest ones have a detail not previously seen.
The mockups of the two iPhone 17 Pro models appear to indicate which areas of the case back will be metal and which will be glass …
We heard late last year that the back of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models would feature a new construction, mixing aluminum and glass.
The back of the Pro and Pro Max models will feature a new part-aluminum, part-glass design. The top of the back will comprise a larger rectangular camera bump made of aluminum rather than traditional 3D glass. The bottom half will remain glass to accommodate wireless charging, two people said.
That report also suggested Apple would be ditching the use of titanium, but that may be a misunderstanding caused by ambiguous language.
Since then, we haven’t heard any specifics about how the rear of the case will be split between metal and glass sections, but that may now have changed.
Latest dummy models have new markings
Sonny Dickson has posted a photo of dummy models with new markings. The MagSafe charger location is marked, but there are also rounded rectangles beneath the new larger camera bumps, which seem likely to indicate the glass sections.
Dickson has been on a roll lately, with some more realistic dummies posted at the weekend, followed by a look at an iPhone 17 Air case with the large camera bar cutout.
