Leak Reveals Differences Between Galaxy Z Flip 6 And Flip 5

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 to appear  in lighter design, and Z Flip 6 with bigger battery

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 will come with notable changes including a much higher max screen brightness of 2,600 nits compared to the previous 1,750 on the Fold 5. It will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor as earlier rumoured. Plus, the device is also 14 grams lighter than its predecessor, while the secondary screen is 0.1-inches larger.

There’s a slightly improved Armor Aluminum frame, and the main display resolution is different at 2160×1856, compared to the previous 2176×1812. There are no changes to the cameras, battery capacity (4400mAh), or cover glass. However, Samsung has promised one additional hour of Long-Term Evolution (LTE) internet battery life and two more hours of video playback.

Meanwhile, the Z Flip 6 will have a 50MP main camera. It’s a step up from the previous 12MP camera on the Flip 5, but it retains the same f/1.8 aperture. So while the increased megapixels means taking better photos, you won’t see an improvement in low-light performance.

Like its partner in release, the Z Flip 6 will also use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 12GB of RAM, up from 8GB. The secondary display will now be IPS instead of OLED, which is an unexpected downgrade. OLED panels are undoubtedly the better performers in color and contrast. The phone is 0.2mm thinner when folded, with other dimensions and weight remaining the same.

It also has a higher capacity 4,000mAh battery, up from 3,700mAh, and Samsung claims that it offers two hours longer LTE internet battery life with three hours longer video playback. As for the cover glass, there is no change and it remains Gorilla Glass Victus 2. But the phone now reflects your color choice, instead of just one panel on the back. Speaking of colors, you get to choose from Light Blue, Silver Shadow, Yellow, Mint, Crafted Black, Peach, and White.

Galaxy Z Flip 6 to support Interpreter Mode

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 will use Samsung’s Interpreter Mode feature on the cover screen. Now having conversations with foreigners should feel more natural. For instance, if you speak English and the other person speaks Spanish, you can start the conversation by speaking into the phone.

The Z Flip 6 translates your speech in real-time and displays the translated text on the cover screen for the other person to read. When the other person responds, the Z Flip 6 translates their speech and shows the translated text on the main screen, so you can easily see their reply.

Samsung has not released pricing for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 folding phones. But we already know they won’t come cheap. We’ll just have to wait for the Unpacked event where other gadgets like the Galaxy Ring and Watch 7 will finally be available for purchase.
