Lenovo Launches Legion Tab Gen 3 For Mobile Gamers

Gaming tablets don’t hold as much appeal when you compare them to more versatile devices, like your smartphone or Nintendo Switch. There’s the size, touchscreen factor, and absence of tactile buttons to consider. However, more impressive tablet designs are starting to emerge, with the added ability to connect controllers and other accessories to create your own home setup.

Lenovo has added one of those tablets to the list. The company has launched the Legion Tab Gen 3 for $499.99. It’s available now on the brand’s official website, designed for mobile gamers with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 165Hz display, and advanced cooling technology.

Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 is here

Lenovo’s latest third generation gaming tablet comes with an 8.8-inch display with 2.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. It also uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor underneath and provides 12GB of RAM paired with 256 of storage. You can manage the memory in Legion Space, which acts as a central hub for all your games, settings, and performance.

Legion Space tweaks your gaming experience across all Legion and LOQ devices, including laptops, desktops, handhelds, and peripherals. It brings together various features from earlier versions of the software and Lenovo Vantage, then adds new capabilities.

Combined, all these features make playing first-person shooters and other demanding games enjoyable because of the ability to quickly render the graphics, and handle fast motion. The Legion tablet also uses the Coldfront Vapor Chamber for heat management, and carries a 6,550mAh battery. Despite its powerful specs, the tablet is thin at just 7.79mm and weighs only 0.77lb, which is about 350g.

Sharp speakers, cameras, and three years of updates

Two 2712 superlinear speakers exist on the Legion Tab Gen 3, reproducing sound across a wide range of frequencies without significant loss of quality or unwanted distortion. It’s paired with Dolby Atmos support and dual microphones to capture your voice clearly.

For photography, the tablet has a 13MP autofocus camera and a 2MP macro camera with flash on the rear side. The selfie camera is an 8MP front-facing fixed focus camera, also with flash.

In terms of connectivity, you get two USB-C ports, one with a 480Mb/s transfer rate and the other with a faster 10Gb/s transfer rate. Sadly, the tablet won’t come with Android 15, but Android 14. But Lenovo promises three OS upgrades, which means that you can update up to Android 17. Additionally, Bluetooth 5.4, WiFi 7 on 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz networks are available.

Enhance gaming performance with Legion Space

Legion Space is where all the advanced technical changes necessary happen on the Legion Tab Gen 3. You can sync settings and preferences across all your devices, such as device settings, game libraries, and RGB lighting settings.

If you buy or download a game on your Lenovo Legion laptop, it’s possible that they automatically appear in your game library on other Legion devices. This way, you can easily pick up where you left off, no matter which one you’re using.

A new feature, Gaming Zone, will be available in the Space in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025 and should bring AI tools for you to improve your skills and streams. Lenovo says it will bring three different features: Game Coach, Game Master, and Game Companion.

Game Coach monitors your eye movements, keyboard, and mouse inputs to provide suggestions. Although Lenovo doesn’t say how exactly it works, it might be along the lines of noticing slow reactions when facing enemies, and recommending quicker response times or adjustments to your positioning. If your mouse movements are too wide or erratic, it could recommend more controlled, precise movements for better accuracy.

Meanwhile, Game Master uses AI to automatically edit your streams into shorter, customized clips that you can share on social media. Finally, Game Companion is another AI-based customizable virtual companion that follows your gameplay. It reacts to what’s happening in the game, offering advice, encouragement, or tips to help you get better.
