Lenovo’s First 2025 ThinkPads Have AMD’s Zen 5 And Intel’s Arrow Lake Chips

Few laptops have as much of a legacy as the ThinkPad. It first started as an IBM product, and while the lineup is managed by Lenovo today, they are still awesome pieces of hardware. Now, if you need a keyboard with a nub in your life, there’s a few new ThinkPads. And they all look great.

Lenovo has just announced a significant refresh to its ThinkPad laptop portfolio today, introducing new models across its P, L, and X1 series. All of them come with either AMD’s Zen 5 series of CPUs or Intel’s Arrow Lake chips, so they’re packing the best of the bunch when it comes to hardware. There’s not really a “flagship” product to highlight here, though, so we’ll go one by one. The ThinkPad P14s Gen 6 AMD and ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 come with the Copilot+ PC branding attached, just like a few previously-launched ThinkPads have. These come with up to an AMD Ryzen AI PRO 300 Series processor, up to the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 featuring 12 cores, a 5.1GHz boost clock, and a neural processing unit (NPU) delivering up to 50 TOPS (Trillions of Operations Per Second) for on-device AI tasks.

The ThinkPad P14s AMD is presented as Lenovo’s thinnest and lightest mobile workstation, starting at 1.39kg and 16.13mm thick. They support up to 96GB of RAM and feature a unified memory architecture that allows up to 75% of system memory to be allocated to the integrated GPU for graphics-intensive tasks. In case you were wondering, yes, these are AMD’s bigger Strix Halo chips that are supposed to compete with Apple’s M-series chips—whether they’re being successful at that is a question for another day, but that’s definitely the intent.

The ThinkPad L13 Gen 6 and L13 2-in-1 Gen 6 models are getting a huge redesign. These feature a more compact chassis with cleaner lines and an increased screen-to-body ratio of up to 84.7%. There’s a “communication bar” that houses a 5MP + IR camera, with select 2-in-1 models adding a world-facing camera. The port layout has been updated to include dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, and an optional Smart Card reader. The L13 2-in-1 retains its onboard garaged pen. These models support up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage, and come with either the latest Intel Core Ultra 200U and 200H series processors or the AMD Ryzen AI PRO 300 Series mobile processors.

Finally, Lenovo is also expanding its premium ThinkPad X1 lineup. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition and ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 10 Aura Edition will now be available with Intel Core Ultra 200U and 200H series processors, in addition to the Intel Core Ultra 200V models that were already available.

The cheapest model in the newly announced range, the ThinkPad L16 Gen 6, starts at $1,219, while the highest-end ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 10 Aura can set you back a whopping $2,399. The full range goes as follows:
