Lenovo is continuing with its mission of providing mobile professionals the spare monitors they need for on-the-go screen real estate. Whether you need a second screen at your home setup or want a peripheral panel while out on the town, Lenovo’s ThinkVision M14d Mobile Monitor will fit the bill. It’s a 14-inch screen that connects via USB-C, meaning it’s built to be the ideal laptop companion.
The new 2022 ThinkVision M14d follows the 2020 ThinkVision M14t (touch) and the original 2019 ThinkVision M14. However, the big difference here is that the M14d is now 16:10 aspect instead of 16:9 like the other two. Lenovo made this change since all modern ThinkPads are now 16:10, and this portable display can now match those PCs for an improved experience. The ThinkVision M14d is also a higher resolution instead of just full HD.
Clocking in at 1.3 pounds (0.6 kg), the M14d’s screen sports the following specs: It’s a 16:10 2240 x 1400 anti-glare IPS WLED-backlit display with a 6ms response time and 60hz refresh rate. It covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut and features a 1,500:1 contrast ratio.
It’s certified to play well with Windows 11 and Windows 10 and features USB-C ports so it can connect with just about any device, including external storage solutions and phones.
The M14d also has “natural low blue light” as a special feature, which is something Lenovo has paid extra attention to in its monitors when discussing the future of screens and eyecare. We’re still a ways off from the rollable monitors it’s thinking about, but for now, 14 inches of USB-C-friendly 16:10 display action isn’t anything to scoff at.
You’ll have to wait until July 2022 to get your hands on this $299 screen, though you can check out the best PC monitors under $200 if you’re not ultra-concerned with portability and just want something relatively lightweight and affordable that’s available right now.
