LG is one of the most popular brands of TVs out there, and for good reason. If you’ve been eyeing a new OLED TV to put as the centerpiece of your living room, the company’s latest OLED Evo TVs might be a good fit.
LG Electronics has announced its newest 2025 OLED Evo TV lineup, featuring the OLED Evo M5, a model with wireless audio and video transmission, and the OLED Evo G5. These models utilize LG’s new α (Alpha) 11 AI processor Gen2 and promise a range of AI improvements, such as enhanced picture and sound quality through deep learning algorithms, upscaling lower-resolution content, and refining audio. It also enables features like Dynamic Tone Mapping Professional for HDR10 content and AI Sound Pro, which simulates 11.1.2 channel surround sound.
The AI features include an AI Picture/Sound Wizard that adjusts settings based on user preferences, analyzing a large dataset of image and sound profiles. We also have personalized recommendations, voice control, and content search functionality. A lot of this is a bit on the gimmicky side, as it’s usually the case with AI “features” packed into most of the tech we buy these days. But you’ll probably find some of these useful, such as the AI upscaling feature, which sounds a bit like what NVIDIA does with DLSS on its graphics cards.
Another big selling point of these TVs is their brightness. The updated Brightness Booster Ultimate technology increases brightness compared to previous OLED models, according to LG. Combined with improved black-level performance and color accuracy, this results in a wider dynamic range. The TVs are certified by UL Solutions for “Perfect Black” and “Perfect Color,” and by Intertek for 100 percent color fidelity. A new Filmmaker Mode with Ambient Light Compensation adjusts picture settings based on the room’s lighting conditions. For gamers, the lineup offers 4K resolution with a 165Hz Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and certifications from NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium for smoother gameplay.
