MagSafe Monday: This 3-in-1 MagSafe charger is perfect for travel

I have tried dozens of MagSafe chargers in the past few years. I swap the ones on my desk, nightstand, and travel bag almost monthly as I try out new ones. This 3-in-1 foldable MagSafe charger fits squarely in the “could be awesome, could be a gimmick” category. It folds down small, charges an iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods simultaneously, and promises fast charging in a slim package.

The foldable design is actually useful

A lot of MagSafetravel chargers claim to be portable, but this one does a pretty good job of actually fitting into a bag without taking up too much space. The 180° folding design makes it feel like a mini charging mat that tucks away nicely when not in use. A lot of MagSafe chargers have a single angle they can work with, but I like how this one is customizable depending on what you’re doing. More importantly, the hinge feels sturdy, which isn’t always the case with low-cost MagSafe charging stands.

The Apple Watch charger is hidden on the backside, so if you don’t wear a watch or charge it elsewhere, you don’t have to look at it. The AirPods charger is also on the underside. When the stand is completely collapsed, it’s hidden as well.

Snapping on and off

MagSafe 3-in-1 dock

The weight of this stand is a plus and a minus. It’s what makes it a solid travel dock, but it’s not as good for your nightstand. The base is fairly light, so it takes either two hands to remove your iPhone, or you need to use one finger to brace it while you pull your iPhone off. On the other hand, the MagSafe magnets are super strong.

Charging speeds

The product claims fast charging with the included 18W adapter (with USB-C to USB A cable), and in testing, it mostly delivers. It’s not as fast as Apple’s braided MagSafe charger, but it gets pretty close. You can expect a full charge in about 2.5 to 3 hours for an iPhone, depending on where you started.

Wrap up

One thing I failed to mention earlier is the color options, which is a nice change from a lot of docks. It comes in black, blue (light and dark), and pink (called rosy red). I appreciate the variety here, and I chose the dark blue option. Overall, it’s a solid dock for the price. It charges everything, and I like the varied angle support. My only complaint is that it’s a bit hard to pull your iPhone off, but that does make it extremely light in your travel bag.
